The Problem
A major manufacturer of drive train components was experiencing difficulty maintaining size of several critical features of the part shown. Due to the high rate of tool wear, the operator needed to check every piece and was making tool wear offsets every 3 to 5 parts. In addition, the operator was required to load and unload two other processes and perform additional inspections related to these operations.
The Solution
Ovation Engineering provided a turnkey retrofit of the
EZ-CompÔ System to the customer's existing gaging. The only additional requirements were the optional gage manufacturers serial cable, which Ovation also provided. Within several hours, this customer had a system that makes tool wear offsets based on a statistical running average and frees the operator to meet the other responsibilities.
